I was fortunate to be assigned to interview Meg from Mind of a Mad Woman. I emailed Meg a few questions and she recently returned her answers. The interview is below. Enjoy!
1. If we dumped out your purse right now, what would we find?
You'd find yourself with a big mess to clean up for one thing. Then you'd find yourself standing over you asking why the heck the contents of my purse have been dumped out. I mean really. Who DOES that?! Ok, well you'd find my date book, three different kinds of lip balm and one lip gloss (there's a huge difference apparently), my wallet, my son's inhalers & spacer, about 18 different kind of tampons (you asked!), some gum, wet wipes, a toothbrush, a hairbrush, receipts for everything I've bought in the last month, granola bar wrappers and about 10 pens. It's really a disgusting mess in my purse that I haven't figured out what to do with but ordinarily I don't have to worry about people just randomly dumping it out. Clearly this might be more of a problem in the future. Geez. :)
Erm. My weight. If someone could wave a magic wand right
now and make me have the body I did 10 years ago, I'd be happier in many ways
not least of which would be that I'd be healthy. It's been a long hard journey
and actually a big reason of why this blog was started (though I've rather
abandoned that aspect of it...soon to be revived). I find it so much easier to
change other aspects of myself, of my life but the weight issue is an ongoing
conundrum that I cannot get a handle on. I swear someone is force feeding me
cookies in my sleep. It's a possibility...don't deny it!!
When Hotty Hubby agreed to seriously consider a big move, then went from that to actually helping PLAN the move itself. In the 7 years together we have had the subject come up multiple times but it's not ever gotten very far. Now it seems like a real possibility, and one that will be incredibly beneficial for us as a family, for our marriage and for us individually. It's going to require some sacrifice and some insane planning, but it will be such an amazing thing for our family that our quality of life will improve hugely. I'm rather circling the answer because we're still in the planning stages and I don't want to let the cat out of the bag too early and jinx it, but suffice to say that it's fantastic. Other than that, Hotty Hubby and I have reached (finally) a point in our marriage where we are both, at the same time, happy. I know that sounds like a ridiculously odd statement to make given that we've been together for 7 years, married for 6 of those and have 2 children....but it's true. This marriage gig is hard work and we've struggled a fair bit through the last few years. The last 6 months have been incredibly hard thanks to various circumstances that thankfully are no longer a factor, and we've come through it. A couple of weeks ago I realised how great H.H and I were doing, communicating like never before and just generally enjoying life with each other. It was a great feeling.
I wanna be famous!! No. I think I'd like to see my readership increase, and my writing improve. This started off as just a place to vent, lament, and use as a bit of a therapeutic tool. I don't know if it's helped much but it's certainly been fun. I guess we'll see 5 years from now whether I'm still sane...and whether my readers have ripped their eyeballs out. I figure if I throw enough pics of my adorable spawn in to balance out all my crap, it'll be ok right? Right? Uh oh...did I just see more readers leaving?!
First off, I have to say that I am incredibly ashamed
that I had to actually go and look up the definition of the word "adjective"
because it's been so long since I actually paid attention in school that I
wasn't 100% sure that I was right about it. Sad right? And then of course I
had the problem of picking just five because let's face it....I'm freaking
awesome. You can't just limit me to five. Sooooo not fair.
But, since you insist (*sigh*)...
Determined - When I set my mind to something, it's rare
for me to give up and just walk away. This is usually a good thing but it's
known to bite me in the ass before.
Spectacular - No really! I am. Well in my own mind I am.
It's something I need to tell myself everyday. I highly recommend it to
everyone. Stand in front of the mirror and tell yourself how spectacular you
are. It makes the day so much easier to get through. After you've done that,
who gives a crap what other people think of you?
Maddening - It's a hard one to admit but I am. I drive
HH up the wall but he loves it. I think it goes hand in hand with my
determination.
Ubiquitous - At least according to my children. Even at
four and six they are still trying to figure out how, if I am sitting
downstairs, I know that they are colouring on the walls of their bedroom
(which sadly happens with some regularity). All I have to do is yell up the
stairs for them to stop and you can hear the " GASP! How did she
know?!"
Genuine - What you see is what you get. Recently there's
been some rather vehement disagreement on this subject thanks to some actions
of mine that were perceived wrongly but honestly it really is what you get. As
I get older, I realise that I don't care as much what people think of me. One
of my favourite sayings lately is "I'd rather be hated for who I am than loved
for who I'm not" and it's very true.
6. Describe your perfect day in 5 sentences or less.
Hot, sweaty, bad breath filled morning nookie. Breakfast
in bed. Adventures with the family interspersed with some book reading time.
Excellent dinner that I don't have to cook. Snuggles with HH after the
spawnlets are in bed followed with more nookie.
Sounds simple right? NEVER happens.
Very good...I like that idea. Intriguing interview, great questions!
Thanks for sharing. Be well.

that was very enjoyable to read!!! Now, if I could only think of five good adjectives for myself, i'd be in business.

Hey that's ME!
Thanks for the great interview, I had a fun time answering those questions and trying to come up with responses that didn't make me sound like too much of a tool.
You rock!
