Awhile back Briefcase surprised me by announcing he'd bought tickets to see Fleetwood Mac in concert over Memorial Day weekend.
Do all of you remember Fleetwood Mac? They used to look like this:
And then they looked like this:
On Saturday evening Briefcase and I made our way to the Honda Center (formerly the Arrowhead Pond) in Anaheim to see Fleetwood Mac.
We were really close to the stage. Our seats were in row 19 on the floor, center stage. The crowd was an interesting mix of young and old. I admit I laughed out loud when I saw a man, probably about 65 years old, walk in with an earring hanging from his ear. He only had a patch of hair left on his balding head, but he wore that patch in a long ponytail. I don't think anyone has told him the 60's are over.
Seated next to us were two couples in their early twenties. The crowd was an ecletic mix.
A row or two in front of us was a woman who came dressed as Stevie Nicks.
It apparently was a huge turn-on for her partner. I don't think I want to know what THAT was all about.
The real Stevie Nicks now looks like this:
Sorry for the grainy photos but it was very dark and all I had with me was a point and shoot. Nonetheless, she's in her early sixties and looks fantastic. Her voice still has the same haunting quality of earlier years.
Mick Fleetwood on drums was amazing too. The highlight, though, was watching Lindsey Buckingham. The man is unbelievable.
I could not believe the dexterity he showed on guitar. His vocals were great and his energy level would make any 18 year old jealous. Stevie Nicks has always been my favorite in the group, but Lindsey Buckingham is the one who shined the most Saturday night. He made a good concert into a great one.

Concerts - so much fun! Good surprise, Briefcase, I approve.
Um, my dad (mostly bald) still wears a ponytail. It used to embarrass me as a kid. When he turned 60, my uncle sent him a card that said "Welcome back to the 60s" so maybe its ok after all?

A few years ago I saw Stevie Nicks in Columbus and the mix of people cracked me up! There was a woman...maybe in her 50's or early 60's dressed as Stevie Nicks. I felt so old! I saw Fleetwood Mac about...et hemmmm..30 years ago in San Francisco.

Aah yes, my favorite Arizona girl. Have always loved Stevie Nicks. And Lindsey Buckingham too. Can't go wrong with either of them.

It sounds like a fun time 24 : ). I hope you have a wonderful Memorial Day today. Are you going to have a picnic?

Sounds like when we went to see B.B. King last month - I never saw so many middle-aged white people in my entire life. Not nearly as funny, though, as when I went to see Jethro Tull about 12 years ago - the audience was mostly comprised of people in their 50's and 60's who had apparently forgotten that the sixties had been gone for quite some time.
So, how was the baseball tournament? Getting to relax today?

Hand him any stringed instrument, and Lindsey Buckingham will play the hell out of it.

Wow. Stevie really does look great! After such a rough time of it, too.
A couple of weeks ago I walked right past the Honda Center...I was staying a couple blocks away. That makes me feel so CLOSE to you.

I love Fleetwood! Stevie Nicks does look good. Did you know she used to live in OC? I don't know if she still does or not.

When I saw them a few years ago, it was amazing to watch Buckingham do his guitar solo. Seriously a master of his craft!
Glad you liked the show! And for the record...if my wife dressed up as Stevie it would probably turn me on also! LOVE Stevie Nicks...

I was a Fleetwood Mac nut in the 70's. They so remind me of my teen days. Still love them. What happened to Christine?
