** I will be in Charlotte, North Carolina this Friday, August 21st. Anyone in the area is invited to join me for Happy Hour at Roosters in the South Park area. I will be arriving there around 4:30 in the afternoon and I may not leave until closing. **
I spent all day yesterday traveling from California to North Carolina to get my son settled for his first year of college. On the plane I looked over at him sitting next to me. I stared at his profile and thought back to when he was a baby, a toddler ... a young boy. Then I turned and looked out the window and stared at the clouds and forced myself to think about other things (like the fact I need new tires for my car) so I wouldn't cry on the plane.
It didn't really work.
It's not easy letting go.
I've never been to North Carolina before but my son has been here before.
We have some long time friends who live in the city of Greensboro. They are the nicest people you can imagine. They were kind enough to open their home to us last night when we arrived.
After a long day of traveling, it was great to have their company and some real (vs. airport) food. I haven't seen much here yet. Lots of greenery as we landed was followed by lots of greenery on the way to our friend's house for dinner. By the time we left their house it was dark.
I can't get over how many trees are here. They're beautiful. Here are just a few in our friend's backyard.
American Airlines managed to lose my son's luggage with the stuff he's supposed to be moving into his dorm today. We're hoping they locate it soon. This did not make me happy - at all.
Asshats!
I don't have much else to share with you today. I'm simply too exhausted. I've tallied it up and realized I've only gotten five hours sleep in the last 48 hours. I'm running on empty.
Am I even making sense?
Oh wait ....
Several of you asked about the Dr. Phil show. I was present for the taping of two episodes. In one episode I just sat in the audience hanging out. La-dee-da for me! I will probably appear in some of those shots where they scan the audience with the cameras.
The other episode is the one most of you have inquired about. Yes, it was the show Heather Armstrong will be appearing on. It will air sometime in September. And yes, I did have the opportunity to meet her (and her husband and her new baby) after the show. I don't have any pictures to share because we weren't allowed to bring cameras or phones into the studio. The topic of the show was working vs. stay at home moms. You can read more about the Dr. Phil taping by clicking here.)
I will most likely appear on TV for a few fleeting moments once the episode airs. I'm hoping I get edited out because when all the cameras came out of nowhere and focused on me I almost peed my pants. I don't even remember what I said, but I'm sure it made no sense. Also, I'm sure you'll be surprised to hear that after the cameras were off, I *might* have realized my dress was showing off way too much cleavage while they were filming.
I know that comes as a huge surprise to all of you.

Nice landscaping. And I'm sure the cleavage looks great, too.
Get some sleep, silly!! And good luck with the luggage...

Welcome to the East Coast. YES, we have a ton of trees here which of course accounts for all the green. Come back in October when it all turns to yellows, reds and oranges so you can oooh and aaah.
Manana, Chica!

Oh dear. It's only August. You will HAVE to go back sometime in October and take a drive through the mountains. It will take your breath away.

Please email me and tell me where he is going. He is going to Guilford or Elon? Bronson applied and was accepted to both places and I love them. I thought for sure he would stay in NC and here I am off to New Orleans.
