I told you I'd share a few of my favorite things with you, now and again, as the holidays approach. I'm always interested in hearing about gift ideas and I would assume many of you are also.
I have two disclosures to make prior to discussing today's gift idea. First, the FTC has new regulations on bloggers and basically it comes down to this: Did anyone pay me to write this? No, they did not. I also did not get anything for free. This post is just me blabbing on (and on, and on!) as usual.
Second, I'm a nerd. I love books. I love computers. I love the written word.
I am a nerd.
OK, then .....
For the person that has everything or is impossible to buy for (I'm thinking grandparents, history buffs, the other nerds in the world, etc.) I'm suggesting this book:
When I last looked, this book (and the 3 DVDs that accompany it) was about $37 on Amazon.
It's a big (15" x 12"), heavy, coffee-table style book. It covers over 150 years of key historical events as viewed on the front pages of the New York Times. It even includes coverage as recent as Obama's election.
Inside it looks like this:
And this:
Along with other, more important, historical issues:
It's a beautiful book. Obviously, it's not the type of book most people would sit down and read cover to cover. It is, however, ideal for picking up and perusing when you just have a few minutes here and there.
I find it fascinating to flip through The Complete Front Pages and get a glimpse into the past.
I have ONE copy of this book to give away today.
If you're interested, please leave a comment in my comments section. You may enter as many times as you wish. Each comment counts as one entry. I will use the Random Integer Generator to pick a winner. Comments will close at 10 p.m. Pacific time tonight. The winner will be announced in tomorrow's post.
Good luck!

What an interesting book! My youngest son, the one who just got married, LOVES history and so does his young wife. I've never seen young people who preferred the History Channel over The Insider or Extra. It would make a great gift for them.
