I told you I'd share a few of my favorite things with you, now and again, as the holidays approach. I'm always interested in hearing about gift ideas and I would assume many of you are also.
I have two disclosures to make prior to discussing today's gift idea. First, the FTC has new regulations on bloggers and basically it comes down to this: Did anyone pay me to write this? No, they did not. I also did not get anything for free. This post is just me blabbing on (and on, and on!) as usual.
Second, I'm a nerd. I love books. I love computers. I love the written word.
I am a nerd.
OK, then .....
For the person that has everything or is impossible to buy for (I'm thinking grandparents, history buffs, the other nerds in the world, etc.) I'm suggesting this book:
When I last looked, this book (and the 3 DVDs that accompany it) was about $37 on Amazon.
It's a big (15" x 12"), heavy, coffee-table style book. It covers over 150 years of key historical events as viewed on the front pages of the New York Times. It even includes coverage as recent as Obama's election.
Inside it looks like this:
And this:
Along with other, more important, historical issues:
It's a beautiful book. Obviously, it's not the type of book most people would sit down and read cover to cover. It is, however, ideal for picking up and perusing when you just have a few minutes here and there.
I find it fascinating to flip through The Complete Front Pages and get a glimpse into the past.
I have ONE copy of this book to give away today.

Hey, I like that. Does that mean I'm a nerd too?
Posted by: Suzi | December 03, 2009 at 05:11 PM
I think Amazon should pay you for this post. I can just imagine the incoming traffic they will have for those that don't win. LOL

This is right up Senor's alley.

For being such a connoisseur and bonne vivante.

A book? For me? You shouldn't have. The shipping on that heavy puppy will be horrendous. But thank you.
