Back in October, I took a marital spat public when I wrote about my favorite coffee cup. It's a very old, red, Starbucks travel cup and it has to be hand washed because it's not "dishwasher safe." I've had it for years, and I'm emotionally attached to my red coffee cup. Briefcase always washes the dishes when he's home, but for some reason, he refused to wash my special cup. He'd just leave it sitting in the sink rather than spend time hand washing it. If you never had the opportunity to read my somewhat humorous post on our spat, you can do so by clicking here.
In November, I wrote a sequel to my initial post. Briefcase came home from a business trip and surprised me one day with this:
I thought it was the end of the Red Coffee Cup saga, but I was wrong.
This year, for Christmas, Briefcase gave me this:
It's a new Starbucks coffee cup. It's ceramic, unlike most of the Starbucks large travel cups. Because it's ceramic, it keeps my coffee very hot which is what I love about my red cup. (Sadly, although I still have my red cup it now has a crack in it and, after all its years of service, it really does need to be retired.)
Of course, being ceramic means this cup is more breakable than many of the newer Starbuck travel cups, but it keeps my coffee very hot which is my top priority in a coffee cup.
Yes, I'm the annoying person at Starbucks who always asks for my coffee to be "extra hot."
Briefcase is happy because, of course, he bought a dishwasher safe cup. That's right - no more hand washing my coffee cup.
I'm predicting this will be my most-used gift this year.
How about you? Did you receive a gift this holiday season you'll be using more than others over the next year?
** No Starbucks coffee cups were harmed in the publishing of this post.

I remember watching the Ellen DeGeneres talk show once and she mentioned that her favorite coffee cup that she used at the set every day had broken. The handle had simply broken off in her hand (probably from one too many go rounds in the microwave). After mentioning it on air the company that made the cup sent her a new cup.
Maybe you could write to the company of the cracked cup and get a new one.... no? Just a thought. But they might enjoy the publicity. LOL

We buy our employees gifts every Christmas - this year it was t-shirts from ThinkGeek.com - mine says "I'm blogging this." LOL It's definitely going to be worn quite a bit. We also all got mugs that say "RTFM", which translates into "Read the f***ing manual." That's really funny when you're a software developer. :P But yeah, that's going to see a lot of use, too.

We didn't do gifts this year. :) But that was the BEST gift of all! No stress and more time.
I'm easy to please.

Does the ceramic really keep it hot? I was afraid they'd cool off too fast.
We got a Wii! We're using it a lot right now but I predict usage will drop soon. My right thumb is already sore - time for a break!

My husband and I are so utilitarian. Our "gifts" to each other are new kitchen and bathroom faucets. I already have the kitchen ones installed (he did that on Xmas eve day) and I love them. I know I'll be using them all of the time and smiling! We still have to pick out the bathroom ones.

Aw, what a guy! I got a fabulous coffee maker for Christmas (not the sleek black Lexus I asked for, but . . . ) and while it doesn't make coffee extra hot, it does make a tasty cup for me every time.
Your hubs rocks, girl. Lucky dawg!

Hehehe I love that it's dishwasher safe! A guy after my own heart! My hubby got me a sweater that I don't think I've taken off since Christmas morning. I am always cold so I love to have a little something I can throw on that is going to keep me warm but yet still look presentable enough to answer the door, and he found it! I am probably going to have to go and pick up a second one so they can be in rotation and be washed.

P.S. SHIT! I lied. I just took a drink of my coffee and it is EXTRA HOT!
Want some?

I love your new cup - very cool. I got several neat gifts. I recently bought a new "fancy" camera and Devoted Spouse got me all kinds of goodies for it this year - one of which is a cleaning kit which has this thingie that poofs out a puff of air to clean your lens. Giggle - I've been waiting for the Golden Destroyer to fall asleep and then I use it on her -so mean, and yet I'm laughing my a$$ off with my new toy. Gah...I love Christmas. Cheers.

My boyfriend gave me a membership to the aquarium for christmas - as Australia summer heats up I predict I'll spend a lot of time visiting the penguins!

I got three gifts this year. A bottle of wine from my children which lasted about 2.5 seconds. A Bible from my mother. And a Wii from my dad. I'll let you guess which'll see the most action.
I like the new cup!

I kept telling Husfriend that "If we just get married, I can finally get my Kitchenaid stand mixer."
He got me one for Christmas.
I assume this means he wants a Bosch for our wedding.
Or no wedding.
Shit.

I LOVE your blog !! You are hilarious. I was reading your older post about the coffee cup and just wanted to say that although your Husband travels a lot it is NOT like being in the Military. Mine is in the military and he gets shot at. Other than that small difference it is similar.
