** For those of you who frequent my photo site (see button located on the right sidebar): I have just added a new album titled Beach2010 and it includes some of today's photos. I will be continuing to add to it over the next few days/weeks/months. In addition, I'm offering a 10% discount on all orders over $50 between now and the end of May! **
I spent Saturday at Aliso Beach which is located in the city of Laguna. My only regret was I couldn't spend Sunday there too. (The horrors of being an adult and having to do responsible things like laundry and grocery shopping, etc., etc!)
The beach was pretty crowded.
The weather was in the mid-80s F (around 29.4C) and the water was warm for this time of year. It was gorgeous.
The waves were big and there were a lot of people using skim boards.
My maternal instincts kicked in and I wanted to tell these boys to move further away from the rocks, but they couldn't have heard me over the crashing waves anyway. (Rocks + crashing waves = very dangerous.)
It wasn't long until my camera was spotted. In a matter of minutes a group of skim boarders started putting on a show for me.
For some reason, my camera mainly stayed focused on this guy with the six pack abs:
* cougar *
* cough *
An 18 year old girl wandered up to me to ask some photography questions. She said she'd just been given the same camera I have, "You know, it's just like yours - it's a Canon and it's black!"
Um .....
She went on and on about how she doesn't know how to use it but it DID come with a manual.
I actually think I could make an entire blog post just out of my conversation with her, but I won't ..... at least, not today.
The ocean water in Orange County is usually a deep blue color. This weekend it looked green and reminded me of the water in more tropical locations. It was so pretty. I just kept taking photos trying to capture the beauty.
This is the view with my back to the ocean.
Each of those homes is worth millions upon millions of dollars.
If someone would like to donate one to me ...
I'd really enjoy waking up each morning and drinking my coffee with a full ocean view.
I took over 200 photos on Saturday. (My arm is in excruciating pain as a result. On the other hand, my soul is soaring in delight.) I'm sure I'll share more of my favorites with you in future posts.
For now, I just keep thinking about how beautiful it was. The day was hot, the beach was perfect, and the laughter of children rippled up and down the beach as they played.
I'm glad you liked my abs. I have been working out.
How about simply staying down the beach all day every day? That way you'll not be creating much laundry and you won't need to get groceries because you can live off cocktails.

Beautiful shots! Weird, how we always do that to so much of our coastine: stack the houses on top of one another by it.
That ocean color is amazing!

All the photos are beautiful but that last one! Wow! I can see it matted and with a black frame. Wonderful!

I'm so happy that you have been able to resume your photography - it brings you and your readers so much pleasure.

You take such beautiful pictures. From now on I will have to live vicariously through those photos as we no longer live in CA. Instead of 3 hours from OC, I now live 16 hours. Such beautiful scenes. But that's ok, because now, I have beautiful snow covered mountains in my back yard. :) Hope your arm is doing ok today after taking all those pictures. Miss talking to you on Twitters. Hugs to you and your family!

wow. beautiful pics.

It certainly was beautiful this weekend in South OC. As I drove around yesterday enjoying our mid 80's weather, I noted that we still have snow on our mountains (only 1 hr 15 min away). Beautiful in either direction. Better get up there before it's gone.

What kind of filter did you use for that last shot posted? The yellow and orange/red? I noticed you did the same a few posts back for the bicycle. I absolutely love that effect. Is it done with a lens filter or in photoshop or something else? I HAVE to try that!

Isn't it funny the way those abs can draw the camera over? Weird!
Those are beautiful pictures. I can't wait til I get my new camera and can get back out there to take pics!

I'm so jealous you get to just go down to play in the surf whenever you want.
Good news! I'm moving in with you!
Heh, heh.

I love your pics. I lived in Orange County for about 5 years and seeing your pics makes me miss it and the ocean. But, at least I experienced in my lifetime. Did I say nice pictures??? ;)
