I thought I'd share with you bits and pieces from my fourth of July weekend. I'll share more once I get a chance to edit the rest of my photos, unpack my suitcase, buy some groceries, and have an extended appointment with Dr. Painless To Look At, my pain management doc, today.
An Unrelated Aside: How many of you saw the LA Times Health Section of the newspaper yesterday? Thank you to the nice reader friend who brought it to my attention. The entire section was devoted to PAIN. I'm not sure it's a good thing people think of me first when the subject is living with pain?
Back on Topic: Last Friday, I drove to Santa Barbara. The holiday weekend began with a nice, leisurely, lunch while staring at the ocean. I sat under one of the yellow umbrellas you see in the photo below.
After lunch, I went and got settled in my hotel.
This was the view from my hotel balcony:
Beautiful, isn't it?
Briefcase and I were still unpacking when an unexpected surprise was delivered to our room:
The champagne (and also a box of chocolates) arrived as an anniversary gift from Briefcase's boss. Nice touch, don't ya think?
We had a nice several days. My daughter and the youngest of my two sons were able to join us. Did you know 15 year old boys will order TWO breakfasts when you take them out? And they will devour every bite of both breakfasts, remain extremely skinny, and be hungry again just a couple hours later? It's expensive amazing!
A Second Unrelated Aside: I need to take a minute here to gently suggest many of you who are wearing leggings out in public really should not be doing so. This is a fact, so please check yourself in the mirror carefully (front and back) if you are venturing out in leggings. Leggings are made for young people with long, thin, well toned, legs if, and only if, the young person with long, thin, well toned, legs also wears a long, billowy shirt with them.
The rest of us need to forget about leggings, okay?
Back on Topic: I love cruising all the Santa Barbara shops. Briefcase doesn't enjoy it at all. He spent time with my son while my daughter and I shopped. We mainly window shopped, but I did pick up this lightweight, summer, scarf:
I sure hate getting Hotel Hair.
Do you get Hotel Hair when you travel?
Do you know what Hotel Hair is?
It's when you take your own shampoo and your own hair products with you while you travel, but the hotel softens the water so much that your hair looks like shit the whole time you're traveling anyway.
No?
Is it just me?

Hotel hair...yes. So true. Nothing like washing your hair away from your normal abode.
Love your scarf. I'm looking closely to see how you tied it. It looks similar to how I do it, but with a little twist. I'll have to try to achieve the same look. :)

Hotel hair? I've never noticed. buy my hair is le crazy.
PEOPLE NEED TO STOP WEARING LEGGINGS. There are girls in my yoga class who wear leggings who clearly don't bend over and check their behinds when they try them on, because when they do yoga...I can see their undies.
It's inappropriate.

Yes... it's JUST you!
I'm a scarf freak and I think that scarf looks great with that particular shirt. Scarves aren't just for fall and winter, I wear them year round if I feel like it and if I find a lightweight enough scarf for the warmer months.
Glad you enjoyed your anniversary!

Hotel hair or not, you look gorgeous - as usual.

-->You look great! I have curly hair so it's a scary case of hotel hair even with my own products.

I love the scarf! I never think of pain as the first thing when I think of you Suzanne. I think of how clever and fun (and of course decadent) you are! So glad you and Briefcase got away AND had some family time away as well.
