So here we are at the end of 2010.
I could tell you it was the best year of my life, but in truth - it wasn't.
I could tell you it was the worst year of my life, but that wouldn't be accurate either. There were days when it felt pretty awful, but the year in its entirety doesn't deserve that title.
It was a year of good and bad, of triumphs and frustration, of happiness, humor, getting turned on, humiliation, more humiliation, and sadness.
There were hurts and losses, and yes - betrayals which were too deep and painful to write about here.
There were also moments of accomplishment and joy. Whether I shared the positives or the negatives, I could feel your overwhelming support. In fact, there were amazing triumphs you made happen for me.
I thank you for that.
Some people, mistakenly, think blogging is a form of one-way communication.
They're wrong.
There is a community which has developed around Twenty Four At Heart. It's a community of young and old, male and female. It's a community of intelligent, accepting, individuals who aren't afraid of a good laugh now and then. Some of you I've met in person, some of you I've only met via email or Twitter. Some of you are new here and some of you have been here since the beginning.
I didn't know it would be like this when I began blogging. I really had no idea I would soon care about people all over the world - many of whom I had yet to meet. I didn't know many of those same people would also come to care about me. This simple fact touches me deeply again and again.
I have learned so much from you.
Thank you so much for choosing to spend time here and letting me share my life with you.
Please be safe tonight as you ring in the New Year!
xo

Suzanne, I count myself lucky to be a small part of the community you have created. I have some family and friends who upon hearing me say, "I have a friend...." and upon finding out that in fact I have never met many of my friends, they get this puzzled look on their faces. Friendship is not defined by proximity, but rather by respect, compassion, laughter, shared interests, and so many other things that these electronic devices make possible. Some people just don't get it. I'm glad that you do, and allow me to be a teensie part of [email protected] Happy New Year!

Happy New Year, Suzanne! Hope to see you in 2011.... in person. I think all bloggers are lucky people, warm, caring and sharing. I may be coming to you from a new state this year, only time will tell. :-))

Girl, your blog is always an enjoyable place for me to drop into. I hope 2011 brings you far less pain physically, and those pesky emotional things that tend to surprise us from time to time. Yes, I consider you a friend, and one of these days we'll meet up IRL, I'm sure of it. Have a safe and fun New Year!

Suzanne- I found your blog from a link to Jan's Sushi Bar where you had commented on her blog. That was at least 2 years ago and I am here to tell you that I think of you often, (as I do Jan)and I feel like we are friends. I would jump to help you if ever there was a way I could- which sort of defines it to me. You don't just entertain me, I really care. I've know Janis as an online friend for many years (before her blog) yet we have never met. The thing is, I think you and Janis feel the same way about me, which makes me happy.

I'm always telling my husband, "my friend, Twenty Four...." and by now he knows who I'm talking about. Count me in as one of the ones who have to check in on you as I'm having me morning coffee. My son gave me a Kindle for Christmas. When I realized that there were BLOGS on it, I immediately did a search for you, and THERE YOU WERE!! I squealed to my husband, "My friend, Twenty Four is on Kindle!" (He rolled his eyes. Men.) I can't wait to see what the New Year brings, my friend!
