I'm basically a corporate widow these days.
Actually, I think I've always been a corporate widow - but even more so lately.
It's making me grumpy.
On top of being single-ish, last week was a dreary week without a lot of sunshine.
It's supposed to be up to 80F/27C by Wednesday.
Thank Gawd!
Anyway, I feel for all of you who live in cold climates because I go stir crazy after a day or two without the sun.
On Sunday afternoon, I knew I had to get to the beach regardless of wind, rain and/or clouds. I drove about 20 minutes and was quite pleased to discover the weather was actually better at the beach than at my house. (Often, that's not the case.)
The storm clouds were still present, but the sun was (sort of) shining through and there was blue sky.
Yay!
I roamed up and down the beach with my camera, happily clicking away.
Have I ever (four hundred bazillion times?) mentioned I love pelicans?
I wonder how they decide who gets to be their leader?
(Yes, I AM drinking wine as I write this post ... why do you ask?)
I took a lot of photos, most of which I haven't even looked at yet.
Nonetheless, I wanted to share this next photo with you. Technically, I know it's not a great photo, but do I care?
No, I don't care ... because I LIKE it, and sometimes that's all that matters. I took it from inside a cave at the beach, looking out at the pretty view in front of me.
I like the above photo because the sun is sparkling in it.
Can we all applaud for the sparkling sun?
(I seriously have only had ONE glass of wine. I'm such a lightweight with alcohol. In case you're interested, the wine I'm drinking is called Decoy and it's made by Duckhorn but it's more affordable than most of their wines.)

I don't think I've ever seen the ocean look yellow before. I know it's just the way the sun is hitting the water, but....
And I love the way the cave photo sparkles all over!

Your husband must be good at putting stress aside when he gets home. I remember a lot of wives, and kids, yearning for the next business trip because their men were in such rotten moods in between them.

I've had a reprieve from corporate widowhood lately, but it looks like it's going to ramp back up come next month. Ah, well.

I'm with you on needing sun! We lived in Portland for a long time, and it's a beautiful, fun city, but that darn grey sky almost made me crazy! Even though we're not back in So Cal (which is where I wanted to move...), here the sky is blue and the sun is out even if there's snow on the ground.
Beautiful pictures!!! I love the pelican picture and the cave picture especially!

I could easily do corporate widowhood. I lived alone many years before marrying so I have lots of ways of entertaining myself and really grew to enjoy my own company. Even without wine! LOL

Why with all of the pictures do I choose to focus on the birds in formation?... Not sure, except to say that's me.
I don't know if it's the same with sea gulls or not, but I'm guessing it is a little bit though. When migrating birds fly in a "V" or staggered formation it's to reduce the drag on the birds in the rear. Each bird benefits from the vortex created by the bird in front, and when the birds in the front get tired they rotate to the rear and someone else automatically moves into position.
Maybe I should have a few sips of your wine to loosen up my inner nerd...

Around here many days these days we see the sum for a few minutes. We always comment when it's out and remind each other to look at it.

I saw something at brunch on Saturday called dealcoholized wine. Normally I'd pshaw that; but with the meds I'm currently on a couple glasses of wine and I'm seriously loopy.

Oh how I miss the beach. I have moved to Tennessee and it is H.A.R.D not ever seeing the beach. Next time you are there take a long look for me. I love your photos and pray daily for you and your arm.

Wow, not only are the vistas spectacular, but your shots really capture them. I absolutely love that first one. Just really resonates with me. Good on ya. Sorry you're the corporate wife these days. That's gotta suck, but not as much as not having a hubs at all. Trust me.

Well, I must be dumb in the "Technically" speaking part of photography 'cuz I think the one from inside the cave is beautiful. I love photography but I don't know much about it other than.....I love what I love.

Gorgeous! If I was anywhere near beaches like that I'd never leave. My 'beaches' are still well under ice, although the geese have started flying back home.
